Nyarntiny is a Kija word meaning Gum Tree, and forms Kamilya’s inaugural painting series.
The collection has been lovingly crafted by Aboriginal artist, Kamilya Lowana White, and each design has a unique story to tell about the natural world and will be appreciated by all who share our passion for the stunning beauty of Australian flora and rich cultural heritage.
Each piece in the Nyarntiny collection is inspired by the beauty of the gum trees markings and layers. To Kamilya, they represent the different stages of life, and the pathways and journeys we take throughout. They speak for all moments – from joyful times to sombre days, and absolutely everything in between.
Kija Country wallpaper, meaning ‘Desert Tracks’ in Kija language, features intricate Aboriginal artwork. Each dot represents a footprint, and cumulatively, the creation of journey track over time. Kija Country emphasises the importance of caring for Country. Through gentle treads, we hope to minimise our impact on the surrounding environment, to live in peace and harmony with the land and its animals – just as Kija ancestors have for tens of thousands of years.
